Estate agents, conveyancers, surveyors and removers for your move

Selling one home and buying the next usually puts four firms on the same deadline. The estate agent values the property, finds a buyer and handles the offers. The conveyancer deals with the contract, the searches and the money. The surveyor tells you what condition the house is really in, and the removal company has to empty one address and fill the next on the day you move. EstateNook lists all four in towns and cities across the UK, with a separate list for each trade, so you can compare them before you instruct anyone.

What puts one firm above another

In every list, the firms whose everyday work is that trade come first, such as a residential conveyancing team rather than a general practice that takes the odd purchase. We then weigh the reputation they have built with clients against how long they have been earning it, and how openly they set out their fees, any regulator they answer to and the way they work. No firm pays to appear, and paid plans are open only to firms that are already on a list, always with a label.
